HOT 4K NEWS
PARAMOUNT PICTURES and director Michael Mann may be going out on a limb with releasing his action thriller “Collateral” starring Tom Cruise and Jamie Fox on 4K Ultra HD December 8.
Most of the action was captured on 1080p/24fps digital cameras and some scenes on 35mm film in the Super 35 format. Paramount says, Mann supervised the 4K/HDR grading sourced from his 2004 approved 2K Digital Intermittent. With that being the case, it will be an interesting HDR experiment to see how much can be extracted from 1080p footage with a wider color spectrum and bolder contrast levels.
The stylish and compelling noir thriller received both critical and audience acclaim. Cruise gives a chilling performance as Vincent, a cool, calculating contract killer at the top of his game. Jamie Foxx received an Academy Award nomination for his role as Max, a cabbie with big dreams and little to show for it. The film showcases the actors as Max transports Vincent on his next job - one night, five stops, five hits and a getaway. And after this fateful night, neither man will ever be the same.
